Almost 4 decades of experience under our belts and I can honestly say "No two projects have ever been repeated !!"

Each project begins with " a five adjective selection process, "
which brings the design team together to start with a fun and very strong sense of communication during the Design process :)

If you have any design question which are relevant to a project you may be considering, please contact me by email to:
Mindy@meiselsdesign.com

And, please allow 48 hours for a personal reply from me.

This is a project which our firm completed almost 15 years ago!! Every project strives to accomplish "Timeless Design" and I can honestly say,  we accomplished that here. It still looks current to me!!

Looking back, the goal of this project was for the furnishings to survive living in an indoor/outdoor environment ~ next to the Pacific Ocean.

Everything was specified with specific finishes for that purpose. The fabrics back then, were not as sophisticated as those which are available today.

I love using Solution-dyed fabrics, which are basically classified as Outdoor fabrics. Today the choices are so much better than that which was available when this project was done. There are so many manufactures which offer fabrics which fall into this classification.

If you're just starting to look at fabrics for reupholstering or you're buying new furniture, I highly recommend looking at fabrics which are constructed for Outdoor Use.

The fabrics are mildew resistant, color-fast to survive in extreme conditions of high UV and they are considered "Pet-Friendly !!"  LOL
And, as always ... if you have specific questions you may email me with any specific questions. Please allow 24-48 hours for my reply.

Meisel's Design:

This project took approximately 16 weeks from our initial consultation with the client to completion. The client had specific goals in mind when we sat down to discuss their plans initially and I can honestly say we were all pleased with the completed space.

Form and function:  The space is actually a very user friendly living room, with swivel chairs for Football Sunday's, a small table which is used almost every evening by the homeowner to eat dinner, and two recovered leather chairs which were the only pieces of furniture which the client wanted to re-use in their new space.

Meisel's Design is now based in Austin, Texas after 30+ years of officing out of the Houston Metropolitan area.

Interior Design involves working with our clients from pre-construction through the entire building process. By the time the home is built, we know eachother really well and the interior furnishing phase is so much more fun.

Selecting fabrics and furniture is actually an art!!

I'm fairly critical of the textures and patterns of the fabrics which end up on every project. This project involved lines and linear patterns from the construction phase, which followed suite straight through to the fabrics and art which were specified.

The fabrics selected for the chair cushions were definitely interesting. Each chair had a different design ranging from one line to four. It actually kept with this linear architectural element which the Architect used throughout the home.

Fun and off-beat.... definitely a Meisel's Design signature.
